c.1960 School Bus with Fidgety Driver In Original Box
Unusual tin litho embossed toy made in Japan. Both toy and box have no manufacturer trademarks. Friction powered vehicle comes complete with original box. Multicolored bus with animated eyes and mouth driven by "fidgety driver". Little kiddies and animals are lithoed on the sides of the bus. The driver turns right and left as the bus moves forward. Freely swinging Stop and Go signs, held by the driver, rock slightly in each hand. Simultaneously the animated eyes and mouth move left and right. The toy is all tin litho with the exception of the driver compartment dome which is clear polystyrene. The tires are solid black rubber with polished tin hubs. The chassis is solid plate, all black, tin litho. The bus is marked "Made in Japan". The box cover was illustrated with a color drawing of the toy. An early 60s style school is shown in the background. The name of the toy and "Made in Japan" were printed on the cover. It has no identifying trademark. Size: 9" Date Sold: May 2009
